Shamanic Work & Healing

“Shamanism is a great mental and emotional adventure, one in which the patient as well as the shaman-healer are involved”   Michael Harner

Shamanism is the most ancient spiritual and healing practice known to man. In fact, shamanism and shamanic healing date back to over 100,000 years and have been practiced all across the globe — well before our current technologies of communication were possible
In many shamanic societies, if you came to a shaman or medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions:

When did you stop dancing?
When did you stop singing?
When did you stop being enchanted by stories?
When did you stop finding comfort in the sweet territory of silence?

Where we have stopped dancing, singing, being enchanted by stories, or finding comfort in silence is where we have experienced the ‘Loss of Soul’.

Dancing, singing, storytelling, and silence are the four universal healing salves.” ~The Four-Fold Way

Shamanism is the path of oneness, connectedness, sacredness, wholeness, awareness, respect, honor and gratitude. Here we connect to the Spirit or all there is & to our own human heart.
A shaman is a healer who moves into an altered state of consciousness to access a hidden reality in the spirit world for purposes of bringing back healing, power, and information.
Shamans are in tune with Nature, animals, plants and spirits, so they use all the natural elements to bring us back in alignment, balance and harmony.

A shaman works to restore balance and wholeness by addressing the ‘original wounding.’

Many methods are used in shamanic healing, including soul retrieval, retrieval of a spiritual ally, removal of unwanted energies that do not belong to one, soul remembering, ancestral work, psychopomp (helping the deceased to cross over into the Light), working the Luminous body and hands on healing.

A human being is composed of body, mind, soul and spirit. Before disease and illness show up at the physical and emotional level, these conditions manifest themselves at the energetic level. When healing is done on a spiritual level, it impacts the mental, emotional and physical bodies as well.
In the shamanic perspective, true healing — spiritual healing — cannot be done on a physical level. Healing means to Return to Wholeness. Returning   is purely an inside job. Spiritual healing addresses the root the place of the Original wounding — the spiritual — problems that cause dis-ease.

There are times when it is not necessary to be in the presence of the Shaman for the work to be effective. Distance healing is ideal for anyone unable to meet in person for specific reasons (too far to travel, homebound, personal reasons, sickness etc.). The wonderful communication technologies available to us (telephone, Skype, the internet, etc.) make conversations easy and very cost-effective, close vast distances, and give the feel of being in the same room during a healing session.

Though distance healing does not require direct practitioner-client interaction, I prefer to engage my client in their healing process as much as possible.
It is important to note Shamans believe that despite their great accessibility to the spirit realm, all healing is self-healing.

A shamanic healing facilitator knows how to move and manipulate the energy of the body and can pass on wisdom through from the spirit realm. However true healing must take place inside the spirit of the individual.

In other words, a person must be willing and ready to take full responsibility for his or her own healing

Whenever distance healing is done, we have an extended conversation with the client. The work is done while the client is resting quietly at home or some other safe place. Following the process, we make a phone call to the client. In this phone call we share all that happened in the journey along with any spiritual guidance which was retrieved for the client. The integration is done at this stage.
